The international Ph.D. in Human Rights and Global Politics: Legal, Philosophical and Economic Challenges gives you the opportunity to carry out research in a lively and supportive environment.
The goal of this three-year Ph.D. Programme, entirely delivered in English, is to provide an educational path which will enable participants not only to carry out sound academic research, but also to undertake professional careers within a wide range of international, national and regional entities, in both the private and the public sectors.
The Programme addresses the issue of Human Rights and Global Politics, and is characterized by a strongly interdisciplinary approach. It includes the following research areas:
Agricultural, food and agri-environmental Law
Public International Law
Political Economy
Political Philosophy
These areas merge into the following curricula which characterize the Programme:
Legal Dimensions of Sustainability and Human Rights Protection
This Curriculum deals with the legal and governance aspects of distinct but related fields of inquiry. With regard to Agricultural Law, the main themes addressed are: water, food, land and natural resources, international trade of agricultural products. With respect to the International Law area the research focuses on human rights protection, international conflict management and resolution, and international disaster law.
Political Theory and Global Governance
This curriculum deals with the main philosophical concepts and economic aspects concerning global politics. In relation to Political Philosophy, the research focuses on Identity, Gender and Justice. With respect to International Political Economy, the research is related to economic and monetary politics, both at international and European level.
